Oranjeboom Sailing South

A delicious, sweet ale beer from the home of tulips, wind turbines and cheese of course. Bought this after I had a meeting with Oranjeboom's IPA a few months ago, which I considered very good and tasty. This pours a very strange color, it's amber but a kind of dark, muddy amber. Has a white, moderate white head and some lacing at the end. What is strange about this beer is that right when it touches your mouth, you feel some light bitterness, but then it finishes in a sweet, malty aftertaste. Usually this is inverse, from sweet it goes to bitter, so I find it very interesting. The aroma has some very very tiny roasted hints, maybe some caramel, and some alcohol feeling.
